How to Cleanse Your Reiki Healing Room

When you practice reiki professionally either from home, or at a local healing centre or maybe even in the home of one of your clients; it is very important to prepare and set the stage for the upcoming healing session to ensure your client feels safe, comfortable and relaxed, so they get the greatest healing benefit from their time spent with you.

Now most people have had the experience at some point in the past of entering a room and immediately sensing a cold or negative atmosphere within that room. If your client was to experience that sort of ambience prior to the healing session it could have a negative impact on your reiki healing session.

That is why it is always advisable to cleanse your reiki healing room before and after any reiki session.

We would recommend adding this simple cleansing ritual into your daily reiki practice.

Before You Enter the Room.

  • Wash your hands with clean running water.
  • While you are standing at the sink or basin imagine standing under a cascading waterfall of pure white reiki healing energy that cleanses your aura, your mind, your body and spirit; washing any negative feelings or energy down into the earth or drain.
  • Now Cleansed enter the Healing Room.

How to Cleanse Your Reiki Healing Room as a Reiki Level 1 Practitioner.

As a Reiki Level 1 Practitioner you will not be able to use the more advanced Reiki techniques and symbols to speed up the process of cleansing your reiki healing room. Instead you can cleanse the reiki healing room by:

  • First rubbing the palms of your hands together to activate the reiki energy while silently reciting your reiki invocation; calling upon reiki to draw close and participate in this reiki cleansing ritual.
  • Then stand in the centre of the room and “beam” or “send” Reiki energy to all the walls, floor, ceiling and the reiki healing table for at least 5 minutes.
  • You may find it easier to imagine white washing (painting) the entire room with the healing white light of reiki.
  • Continue with the cleansing until you feel a shift in the energy of the room and it feels warm and inviting for your client.
  • Complete the ritual by silently reciting the intention: “This room is cleansed, purified, and ready for my Reiki Healing Session with… (insert clients name).

How to Cleanse Your Reiki Healing Room as a Reiki Level 2 Practitioner and Reiki Master.

As in the previous example begin to cleanse your reiki healing room by:

  • First rubbing the palms of your hands together and/or drawing or projecting the CKR (Cho-Ku-Rei) symbol into your cupped hands to activate the reiki energy while silently reciting your reiki invocation; calling upon reiki to draw close and participate in this reiki cleansing ritual.
  • Then from the centre of the room, extend your arm out in front of you and draw the CKR power symbol over the 4 walls, the ceiling, the floor and the table.
  • Remember to silently intone the name of the power symbol 3 times (CKR, CKR, CKR ) as you draw the symbol onto the walls and surfaces.
  • Continue with the cleansing until you feel a shift in the energy of the room and it feels warm and inviting for your client.
  • Complete the ritual by silently reciting the intention: “This room is cleansed, purified, and ready for my Reiki Healing Session with… (insert clients name).

Many reiki practitioners like to burn oils or incense or smudge the room as part of their own cleansing ritual. However, although we believe it is fine to add your own oils etc to the cleansing ritual listed above; you should always be sensitive to your clients preferences and sensitivities and we would recommend that you check that your client is not allergic or adverse to any oils etc before your use them on your healing room prior to the session.

You could also consider adding crystals to your reiki healing room like smoky quartz or black tourmaline to absorb any negative energy.

If you do add Crystals to your healing sessions remember that it is good practice to cleanse the crystals after each session by rinsing them under cold running water to remove any negative energy in preparation for the next session.
